Mastic Removal

Expert Asbestos Adhesive &
Black Mastic Removal

If your home or commercial building was built before the 1980s, there’s a good chance the adhesive used under your flooring—commonly called black mastic—could contain asbestos. At National Flooring Removal, LLC, we specialize in the safe, non-invasive removal of black mastic adhesives, using industry-approved methods that prioritize your health, property, and peace of mind.

What Is
Black Mastic?

Black mastic is a tar-like adhesive historically used to secure vinyl, linoleum, and asbestos tiles. While strong and long-lasting, many black mastics contain asbestos fibers, making removal potentially hazardous without proper procedures and containment.

Our Black Mastic
Removal Process

At National Flooring Removal, we follow a thorough, EPA- and OSHA-compliant process for black mastic removal:

1. Preparation & Containment

We install a protective splash guard along wall areas and properly seal off the workspace to prevent contamination.

2. Safe Chemical Application

We apply a non-odor, low-VOC mastic remover that softens the adhesive without releasing dangerous fumes.

3. Low-Speed Mechanical Removal

Using a low-speed floor machine, we carefully strip the mastic from the surface without disturbing subfloor materials or creating airborne particles.

4. Final Cleanup

The area is HEPA-vacuumed, wiped down, and inspected to ensure a clean, safe surface ready for new flooring or further renovation.
